The XOOPS core development team is pleased to announce the release of XOOPS 2.0.17.
Which is actually quite speedy and a good sign that things are happening again.
Xoops got to the top five finalists for the Packt Publishing award last year.
One to watch again.

Xoops always seemed to be a good CMS with a lot of capabilities. You could integrate MediaWiki or WordPress as plugins and there were lots of features for news and article publishing and community modules, which were easy to install.
However, it seemed to languish somewhat for a time and the xoops.org site itself had become an impenetrable jungle in which it was almost impossible to separate what was current from what was obsolete. There were rumbles in the forum and it seemed as if there was mutiny afoot.
Recently, it has been announced that Skalpa, the former lead developer, has been head-hunted or scalped: he is no longer the head honcho, anyway. There is now the process of bickering and committee-forming to be gone through, peppered with blame and retribution.
I hope a new release comes out within a sensible amount of time and confidence is built back to a degree that anyone will feel that the project is revitalised and moving forward with fresh verve. It could be a very good CMS once stability is restored.
