How The Trade Dispute Between China And U.S. Will Impact Latin America

How The Trade Dispute Between China And U.S. Will Impact Latin America

Last month, the trade dispute between China and United Stated took flight. It stemmed from the announcement made by President Trump that all aluminum and steel products from a number of countries including China will have additional tariffs. Over a week passed, China made their own announcement that selected products from the United States including wine and frozen pork will have tariffs. There are now uncertainties among Latin brides with businesses in Latin America since they are caught in the middle with advantages and disadvantages to weigh.

The trade war continues as China wants to impose tariffs on various American products such as cars, planes and soybeans. This is in answer to the demand of the United States that Chinese goods will have a tariff of $50 billion.

According to the Latin America and the World’s director, Margaret Myers, the United States’ actions are forcing them to pick a side between the two disputing countries. Countries on Latin America, on the other hand, are placed in awkward positions and they are to face a policy that is not entirely encouraging for them.

China is currently the leading trade partner of different countries in Latin America such as Brazil and Uruguay when it comes to raw materials. Brazil has the largest economy in the region and also leads the list of soybean exporters in the globe.

Argentina and Brazil should be happy with the chance to have a greater market share but these countries chose to tread the water carefully after the tariffs announcement. As of the moment, Argentina is on the third spot of the largest soy exporter in the world. it is still analyzing the current status of the trade dispute.

Analysts from these two countries said that the tariffs might impact the region because China will turn to South America to meet their country’s demand for soybeans and other products made of soy.

On the one hand, Washington is not happy upon hearing that some countries in Latin America are asking for financing help from China. The new trade policies will eventually shake the business of Latin brides but, as all other challenges, they will be able to weather it.

Cleaning Contractor Under Daily Mail Will Get To Receive Higher Salary

In the United Kingdom, Daily Mail is known to be the second top daily newspaper. The company has a website called Mail Online which is located in Kensington, western part of London, at the Derry Street and the site is considered to the top newspaper website in the globe because of the number of readers. Their office at the Derry Street shared the same building as other publications such as Evening Standard, Metro and The Independent. Daily Mail’s website is so popular that even school cleaners in Sydney knows about them and the latest controversy the company has gotten involved with.

The cleaners of the building have recently filed a petition which received almost 100,000 signs because they wanted to get an increase from their current pay. The cleaners refer to their proposal as a dignified salary which they deserve. The staff are not happy because their current salary is based on the minimum wage set in the United Kingdom thus they only receive £7.50 every hour.

The cleaners added that they are currently making a ballot to make an action regarding the entire industry.

The contractual company is responsible for hiring the cleaners which is under the business name MITIE. According to them, they are already planning to increase the wages based on the recommendation given by London Living which should give them an hourly rate of £10.20. There are cases wherein the hourly rate may be higher than that amount.

A representative from MITIE explained that the increase in pay is not because of the petition filed. In addition, they are not sure about the exact date when the new rates are going to be implemented.

The petition from the cleaners began in February and was created using the Change.org website. According to them, they came together in order to achieve their aim to reach an hourly rate of £10.20 which is said to be the amount they need to have a more comfortable living condition in the capital. This will help cover their shelter, food as well as various activities which are necessary to reduce stress.

Cleaners from around the world including school cleaners in Sydney are in agreement with the petition because they understand how hard it is to live in the city with only a minimum wage to depend on.
